Paediatric Osteopathy

Babies and children are not just little adults. They are growing and changing constantly throughout their childhood and as such specialist training really helps in order to truly understand their needs at each stage of their lives.

Both Lauren and Grant trained at the Osteopathic Centre for Children, a centre of excellence for post graduate training in paediatric and antenatal osteopathic treatment. This course involved working with babies from a few hours old, children up to the age of 18 and women throughout their pregnancy. Lauren’s training also included working with premature babies within the neonatal intensive and special care unit which has given her a unique perspective on the role of osteopathy in health.

Osteopathy is a non-invasive approach which is suitable for babies and children at all stages of development. The gentle manipulation provided by osteopaths could help soothe and relax your baby. Often the osteopaths will use techniques known as cranial osteopathy but there will also be times when gentle structural osteopathy will be used to increase mobility.

Osteopathy can also be used during pregnancy. It could help general aches and pains including joint and back pain that can be caused by pregnancy. It also may help relieve the stresses and strains on your body during pregnancy.

If you want any further information about how osteopathy could help your or your child feel free to get in contact. We are happy to discuss how we can help.
